SNITCH-T: Terrestrial RF Awareness for the Tactical Edge
Applied Signals Intelligence (ASI) is introducing SNITCH-T, a rugged, mast mountable RF direction finding and emitter-mapping sensor engineered for one purpose: delivering small, modular, rapidly deployable EW capability to forces operating in contested, GPS-degraded environments.
Why SNITCH-T Matters
As outlined in both Army leadership commentary from Brig. Gen. Kevin Chaney and recent reporting from Breaking Defense on the Army’s 2026 electronic warfare priorities, the service is accelerating efforts to field lightweight ground EW systems that can be rapidly deployed across dispersed formations. These priorities highlight the need for modular equipment that provides persistent spectrum awareness, emitter mapping, and threat detection without reliance on complex multi-platform architectures or vulnerable GPS links.
ASI’s advancements in compact EMVS technology (Electromagnetic Vector Sensor technology) proven across small UAS platforms have demonstrated that high-accuracy, single-sensor DF is now possible without the bulk, cost, or maneuver limitations of legacy systems. SNITCH-T brings this breakthrough to ground forces.
What SNITCH-T Delivers
SNITCH-T provides a compact terrestrial RF sensing capability with the following key features:
- Single sensor direction finding with full azimuth and elevation coverage without dependence on GPS timing or multi sensor geometry
- Very small form factor at 13 lbs. in tripod configuration (sensor alone 4.5 lbs.) with low power requirements (40-45W) suitable for rapid placement and repositioning
- Flexible mounting options including tripod, vehicle, tower, or fixed site installations
- Wideband operation from HF through 6 GHz or 18 GHz depending on configuration with 200 MHz instantaneous bandwidth
- Actionable outputs include lines of bearing, triangulated geolocation of emitters, power spectral density (PSD), and threat signal characterization
- Integrated ATAK plugin allows a single operator to control multiple SNITCH or SNITCH-T and Cursor-on-Target (CoT) messaging enables seamless incorporation into existing workflows
Designed for the Modern Fight
SNITCH-T gives small units RF situational awareness previously limited to large airborne ISR assets, now in a format that a single operator can carry, power, and deploy in minutes. It provides persistent insight into jammers, comms emitters, air-defense radars, and fast-changing threat environments, all without relying on vulnerable GPS or complex communications links.
As the demand for distributed, attritable EW sensors accelerates, SNITCH-T offers a field-ready solution: fast to deploy, simple to operate, and built to survive the RF battlefield.
